Worked with a client the other day who had to go to a cocktail party as part of work. She wasn’t confident on handling cocktail parties. “… handling cocktail parties, I absolutely hate them” And now it was a part of her job description. Love them or hate them, they can be a useful tool to … Continue →
Carl Jung, the Swiss psychologist, in the 1920s coined the term Synchronicity. To put it as simply as possible, it is when two or more events happen together in a meaningful way. There are so many examples of this happening that I won’t take your time to give one. They are so common that we … Continue →
We have all heard that expression, “In the blink of an eye, everything changed”. And I have to tell you I hear that said to me by clients on a daily basis. Everything is going along in one’s life and the future looks great, “pedal to the metal baby, it’s full speed ahead”. And then … Continue →
My brother Michael has a saying he uses when anyone says to him, “Boy Mike, have you ever been lucky with your business.” His answer, “Yes, and the harder I work, the luckier I get”. Hard Work equals Good Luck? It’s obvious that without effort, nothing will change, but is Luck just the result of … Continue →
A little knowledge is a dangerous thing! We all know that but every now and then, we need to get a reminder about it. I tried updating my web site, all by myself and something went wrong. Don’t know what. If I knew what, I guess it wouldn’t have gone wrong, or at least I … Continue →
I was working with a client from the Ultimate Wake Up the other day and thngs are happening. Big things, like life-time goals. So I guess this post is about going after our life-time goals. If it was easy to reach your goals, then everyone would be living the dream. There is a song by Paul Simon called, Slip Sliding Away has the lyrics, \"You know, the nearer your destination, the more you\'re slip sliding away\". And that seems to be ... Read More
We all know about bullying, if not from personal experience, then from the press. And now the National Press is reporting on a study done at Queen’s University in Kingston that has found that “obese teenage girls are three times more likely to be bullies than the slimmer girls in their class”. And when you … Continue →
Are you doing everything you are supposed to and still have difficulty reaching goals? When it comes to goals, there is no lack of opinions out there. It reminds me of a friend of mine, let\'s call him Peter, who was digging a trench around his house to control flooding rain water. This was a summer long process and over the summer, every neighbor on the street came by and each had a special piece of advice for him. Now Peter told me he always had an extra shovel stuck in the dirt where he was working, and never, not even once, did any of the advice givers offer to pick up that extra shovel and help out. Advice is cheap. Action is a different story. Lots of advice out there on reaching your life\'s goals, but do you feel like the picture of the rope to the upper left. Hanging on by a thread as time and effort have worn away your endurance. Time to think outside the box, as that overused saying goes. Is there a better way to reach your goals? Is it the \"work smarter, not harder\" idea, Read More

When it comes to a lack of ambition and no direction, today\'s youth seem to have a strangle hold on this issue. Although what we define as youth keeps changing. From the teenagers whose favorite saying is \"What ever\" to the young adults who are discovering that they are not entitled to a good living. We Like to Think That We Live In A World of Entitlement As each generation grows up, it seems that the baby boomers had it best of all. Their parents had survived not just the Great Depression but World War II and the Korean War. The economy started on the greatest boom in the history of the world. Back then a high school diploma was a guarantee of a good job. And then the baby boomers grew up and suddenly you needed a college degree to get those good jobs. And now the children of the baby boomers are growing up and the goal posts have once again been moved. There is no automatic job waiting for you just because you grew up in an affluent household. A high school diploma means Read More
