Stress levels have never been higher in recent years as they are now, not when it comes to trying to survive in this financially uncertain climate. I know some people who work 7 days a week, and 12 to 14 hour days is the norm.
The logic is that you can’t afford to slow down. The trouble is that if they don’t slow down, their productivity slowly goes down and with time they end up doing less and less. Can’t afford to slow down, how about you can’t afford not to take a break. A holiday, a break, something to regain your composure.
It has been shown that people who have a short 20 minute nap in the afternoon wake up refreshed and much more productive than those who just tough it through the afternoon.
Pacing yourself is essential to not just survival, but winning in the game of life. Watch this video, from the Sydney Olympics. It shows how Eric Moussambani doesn’t pace himself. In this particular heat, he actually won his event, but don’t count on this style for yourself.
