Growing Older, Growing Strong

Posted by: Marcelle

It has been said that youth is wasted on the young and as I age, I agree more and more with that statement everyday.

Men reach their physical peak at about age 30 and their sexual peak at about age 18.  That just doesn’t seem right, at least not to me as I sailed past these peaks and didn’t even know they existed.  Now that I am on the downward slide toward old age, I think that someone should do something about reversing this error in our DNA.

Yup, it’s our DNA that is to blame for this horrible mistake about our physiology.  We have a timer built in that results in predicable age related inconveniencies.  Our vision goes followed by  tinnitus and hearing loss.  Of course our skin starts to wrinkle and worse, our sex drive will start to wane.  As the old cowboy said, “I am not good as I once was, but I am as good as I was once.”

Can anything be done to reverse this downward spiral, or at least slow it down?  It seems pretty inevitable but actually there are some things that will help keep you younger longer, and they are not that hard to do, if you have the will power to persist.  So here are a few of the most potent anti-aging methods I have found to date:

  • Exercise: This 8 letter word is a put off for many people, but ‘use it or lose it’– that saying is exactly right.
  • Detoxify your body:  Just looking at the obesity rates in the US and Canada should tell you something.  We have a lot of toxic waste in our bodies.  Detox by using a high fiber diet. If you want to go further, try a colonic. It’ll clean out your colon where food is impacted and rotting away. Also, herbal remedies such as dandelion root help clean out your liver.  Homeopathic remedies are a powerful way to clean your body, so check this out as well.
  • Diet: Stop poisoning yourself with all the prepared foods that  you are eating.  I know it’s inconvenient, but you’re going to feel a difference.
  • Nutrition:  Our foods have lost most of their nutrient value in the last 55 years, due mainly to the use of pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers.  We are eating foods empty of the vitamins, minerals and oils that we need. Supplements are necessary for all healthy people, and yes, there is a difference between vitamins and vitamin companies.  Vitamin B6 is used to help with menstrual cramps but there are two forms, the cheap version called  Pyridoxal HCl and the one that cost more but works called Pyridoxal-5-Phosphate.  The difference is in the way your body reacts and absorbs the higher quality supplements.
  • Stress.  The stress hormone is called cortisol and it is responsible for weight gain, graying hair and a weakened immune system. Just watch President Obama’s hair turn white over the next year.  So find ways to deal with your stress and reduce it!

Do you feel young in your body? What positive habits have you pick up to help ensure a positive aging process? How do you feel about you’re changing body? We’d love to hear your viewpoints. Please share your thoughts!

Until next time,

Dr Tony
